You know it would be nice if my damn school would give me a better heads up that I’m going to be put on Academic dismissal rather than hiding it and almost fucking me over.
Why would you stop a student from being able to attend school rather than reaching out and helping them you…
I know exactly how you feel, and it sucks. I go to contra costa community college and the staff there are nearly universally useless and rude. It took me years of visiting counselors to piece together what I’m actually supposed to DO in college, in between their rambling tangents and implying that I’m an idiot or lazy.
They make it sound like when you’re dismisses they’ll email you or send you a letter or something- but no, the only way to know is if you see the tiny notification box on one of the several school websites, which only work half the time. The website where the notification is? The one where you go to sign up for classes. And when’s the deadline for doing your appeal for reinstatement (that involves writing a letter saying you’re so sorry, having a counselor sign it, then waiting for the dean to get back from vacation to press the “accept” button on her computer)? Yeah, usually the day that sign ups for classes begin. It seems that every aspect of being a student is designed to screw you over.
Stick with it, do your petition, and hopefully if and when you get approved and sign up for classes all the required courses you need to take for your degree that only happen one semester a year haven’t been filled while the school was screwing around.
